Our client came to us with a most unusual spec, requiring printing onto a metalised board. The substrate, called Mirri Rainbow, is made with a printable metallised polyester film, laminated to a high quality white backed folding box board. In other words, it's shiny shiny. We first had to print a Pantone onto the reflective surface, allowing 3 days to dry using fully oxidising ink. Once dry, the sheets were then UV varnished before delivered to another supplier, who finally finished the items. As the ink sits on the surface, the UV varnish is essential to protect the print from damage. This job was also unusual as it was the first time we had been used to deliver a component of a larger job. And yes, all the scuffs and marks on the print are part of the very clever design.
